We encourage you to send us an email or make an appointment so we can provide you with the best quote for any design you see on our website your have as a reference image.

Waldemar Jewellers offerings are all custom-made. You may choose a design from our website or have one of our team of highly talented jewellers create a unique piece for you. Alternatively, if you have seen a design that you fancy elsewhere, we can adapt that to suit the stone of your choice.

There are many options to choose from as far as the settings for your engagement rings are concerned. You may want to read up an overview of the engagement rings settings from our Engagement Ring Guide. Many people prefer the claw settings – which still has variations depending on the number, shape and thickness of the claws. It would be best if you can come in for an obligation-free design appointment so that one of our jewelers can advise you on your many options for the setting for your engagement ring. Even better, they can show you actual samples of the different types of engagement ring settings.

Please visit the Precious Metals section of our Engagement Ring Guide. You will learn the differences between platinum and gold and even get to know a few of the other precious metals that are oftentimes used for engagement rings.

Yes, we absolutely can. We put together an engagement ring guide and we hope that you will be able to find this helpful. Furthermore, you can give us a call or come in for an appointment and one of our jewellers can answer any questions you might have.

Yes, definitely. If your significant other has a specific taste in jewellery, this might be the best approach. She will get to have her preferred design – after all, she will have to wear the ring for a long time. We’ll provide a lovely presentation box for the diamond that is sure to impress. After the proposal, you can come in together for an appointment so you can finalise the design.

Yes, absolutely. Since all our rings are custom made, we appreciate that it is not that easy to imagine what it will look like. You are welcome to see and even try on the ring before the stones are set. In the event that you would like to make changes to the ring, we can accommodate that. To learn more about the variations that can be made, read our Design Change Policy.

We at Waldemar Jewellers, strive to ensure your satisfaction with your engagement ring. We appreciate the fact that it would be hard to visualise what the finished look of the ring is going to be and that you may want to make some design changes along the way. That is why we create a true to size 3d digital design for you to approve and make changes to prior to the creation of the ring. To avoid any anxiety on your part, we allow you to see and even try on the ring before the diamond is set. You are also allowed to make small changes to the design at this stage, without incurring additional charges. We include several types of alterations in our service such as changing the ring size, changing the band, reducing the width, etc. However, if you would request significant changes or the piece has to be remade, please note that you may incur additional charges. For more details on this, please visit our Design Change Policy.

There are a few different ways for you to obtain her finger size – you may have to be very stealth, though. If she wears a ring on her right ring finger, you can sneak it in to us for sizing. If that is not something you can get away with, try wearing her ring on any of your fingers and see where it fits – we can take it from there. You can also discretely enlist the help of her girlfriends to get her ring size or to at least know what it is if she does not wear any rings. Another ultimately sneaky move is to tie a string on her finger when she is sleeping – we can take it from there as well.

LOOSE DIAMONDS / GEMSTONES

Waldemar Jewellers offers a wide range of coloured gemstones such as Sapphires, Emeralds, Rubies and Aquamarines. You are welcome to come in for an appointment to see them personally and one of our experienced jewellers will be able to answer any questions you may have.

Yes, absolutely. At Waldemar Jewellers, we have a wide range of loose diamonds and coloured gemstones. One of our jewellers will explain all about the 4Cs whilst showing you actual and genuine precious stones. You may have done your research (and we applaud you for it!) but the resources that are available online may end up confusing you further. We can’t blame you, though. There is just too much conflicting information available. The team at Waldemar Jewellers has over 20 years of experience. We guarantee we can help you with your questions relating to the quality, origin and value of diamonds.

GIA (Gemological Institute of America) created the now-globally accepted standard for describing diamonds: ColourCutClarity and Carat. At present, the 4C’s of diamond quality is the universal method used to assess the quality and appraise the value of any diamond, anywhere in the world. To know more about the 4Cs, you can read more about them in the Learn about Diamonds section of our website

The first thing to do when looking to purchase a diamond is to learn about the 4 C’s – CutColourClarity and Carat – which are the characteristics of a diamond that determine its quality and hence value. You can look at the Learn about Diamonds section and the How to Buy a Diamond page on our website as a starting point. One of our jewellers would also be happy to answer any questions you may have and show you a range of loose diamonds to choose from.

All our diamonds larger than 0.50 carat come with an independent certificate from GIA (Gemological Institute of America), GSL (Gem Studies Laboratory) or DCLA (Diamond Certification Lab of Australia), and smaller diamonds can be certified if requested. Diamonds should always be accompanied by an independent certificate to verify all the scientific details of the stones. The person selling you the stone should not be the person who has issued the certificate to ensure an unbiased opinion. There are a large number of different certification laboratories, and whilst they grade to the same standards, their descriptions of these grades can vary. For instance, the highest cut grade used by GIA is called “Excellent”, whilst GSL uses the term “Very Good” for their highest cut grade. This can be confusing, but our diamond experts can lead you through the common pitfalls of purchasing a diamond. Whilst certification is essential, diamonds should not be bought on the strength of the certificate alone. Some certification labs are not as reputable as others, and anything that looks too good to be true usually is. For all of these reasons and more, it is essential to be able to view your diamond before purchase.

Waldemar Jewellers prides itself on the high standard of workmanship that goes into making every engagement ring. Reflecting our high quality standards, all our engagement rings come with a lifetime guarantee against faults in materials and workmanship. To ensure your precious stones are securely set, you must bring in your piece of jewellery for an annual check. This is a free service and is included with all our engagement rings. The guarantee is void if it has been more than 18 months since your last check. Our guarantee covers any defect caused by faulty materials or workmanship. Our guarantee does not cover defects relating to general wear and tear, scratching, damage caused by accidents, neglect or misuse, or any resulting loss of the ring or precious stones from the ring. If the ring has been repaired or modified by someone other than ourselves the guarantee is void. Engagement rings not custom made by us are not covered by the guarantee. In the rare event of a problem, please inform us and bring back your engagement ring as soon as possible for inspection. Rings that are covered by the guarantee will be repaired free of charge. Rings that are not covered will be quoted for repair. For the details and terms of our guarantee, please refer to the Company Policies section of our website.

CUSTOM MADE JEWELLERY

Waldemar Jewellers specialise in custom made fine jewellery. This includes engagement and wedding rings, bracelets, pendants, earrings and more. We make our jewellery to order using the highest quality materials, incorporating stunning hand-engraving, diamonds and coloured gemstones as requested. If you can imagine it, we can create it; as long as the design is technically possible and will safely hold any chosen stones. Make an obligation-free appointment today to discuss your custom design with one of our friendly jewellers.

We have a large gift range of beautiful ready-to-wear designs, available to view and purchase in each of our stores. If you are looking for something more specific that cannot be found in-store, we can custom make the item for you. The custom made process can take anywhere from three to six weeks, depending on the design. Whether it be an anniversary or birthday gift, or to mark any special occasion, the Waldemar Jewellers team can happily assist you.

There are no strict rules as to what you must buy for an anniversary present, although the ‘eternity’ band is the most popular choice nowadays. An eternity band is similar to a wedding band, and is generally worn on the opposite side of the engagement ring to the wedding ring. Some women prefer to wear theirs on the opposite hand. These days most customers are matching the eternity band exactly to the style of the wedding band, but if the ring is worn on the opposite hand it can be a completely different style. The main feature is that it is set with small diamonds or small coloured gemstones, and is in the same metal as the engagement and wedding rings. Diamond stud earrings, or a diamond pendant are also popular choices, being classic and timeless in style. We have a stunning gift range of ready-to-wear pieces in store for such occasions, and if we don’t have what you’re after we can custom make an item for you. Please allow anywhere from three to six weeks for custom made pieces.
